Lavender, a symbol of the natural and cultural heritage of our regions, is at the heart of an international recognition initiative. Committed alongside producers, Elixens France actively contributes to and supports the candidacy of lavender-growing expertise in the UNESCO heritage list.
On July 20, 2022, the Maison du Patrimoine Lavandicole launched its candidacy for the inclusion of lavender-growing territories and expertise in the UNESCO heritage list.
The goal of this candidacy is to effectively contribute to preserving lavender-growing activities, which are currently at risk, and to ensure the continuity of essential activities in the affected regions.
The candidacy is led by Ms. Nadia Bedar and is supported by the Maison du Patrimoine Culturel Lavandicole de Provence, based in Forcalquier. This association brings together key players in the perfume and cosmetics industries.
The application process is actively underway, coordinated through 17 working groups addressing various themes, including agro-pastoralism, beekeeping, history, environment, climate challenges, health, and cultural tourism.
On Friday, March 21, in this context, producers, processors, local and regional elected officials, and members of the project team gathered to inaugurate the Drôme branch of the Maison du Patrimoine Culturel Lavandicole de Provence at the Baronnies Provençales Park in Sahune.
Elixens France has been committed for many years to working alongside producers of aromatic and perfume plants, supporting the supply chains from the ground up.
It is particularly active in promoting local terroirs and the expertise of producers.
Lavender is an emblematic product of its Dauphiné-Provence supply chain, which has been developed organically and fairly for over 15 years.
This candidacy and its deep local roots strongly resonate with the values and practices of Elixens France, which is proud to announce its membership in the association.
