Lavandin market
Crop information
In 2020, more than 26,000 ha of lavender were cultivated. 10% were organic. In 2021, the surface area has increased significantly.
Lavandin Grosso is the majority species.
Lavandin production and stock
The production of the 2020-2021 campaign is confirmed at 2,100 tons, which is equal to last year's record year.
Consumption over the same period is attested at the level of 1,400 tons, well below production.
For the second year in a row, production significantly exceeded consumption with a cumulative surplus over the two periods of approximately 1,700 tons, i.e. more than one year of consumption.
Lavandin price fluctuation
In both conventional and organic, the very high price levels of the last few years had led to a very strong acceleration of planted areas.
In 2021, surfaces have increased by more than 5% in conventional and by more than 15% in organic.
The conditions are therefore still reunited for prices to fall.
Lavender market
More than 6 000 ha of lavender were cultivated in 2020. The growth concerned the conventional +6% and the organic lavenders at +15%.
It is interesting to know that 50% of cultivated lavenders are organic. This is a particularly remarkable ratio.
In 2021, 100 tons of clonal lavenders and 60 tons of population lavenders have been produced.
