Elixens France celebrates its 25th anniversary

From its early roots in the world of aromatic raw materials to its current expertise in natural ingredients, essential oils, hydrosols, vegetable oils, macerates, extracts and agricultural supply chains, Elixens France has continually evolved.

25 years of history… and a story that began long before

The journey that would eventually lead to the creation of Elixens is rooted in a much older family and entrepreneurial history. In 2001–2002, under the leadership of Emmanuel Alves, the Orgasynth Group expanded its activities into the production and marketing of aromatic raw materials, through the acquisition of Adrian, then a major player in processing within the market.

Over the years, through to 2010, this business continued to take shape and expand. New activities and new sites gradually became part of the journey, enabling the Group to strengthen its expertise and presence in the world of aromatic ingredients, food flavours and fragrances.

From Orgarôme to Elixens France: a new chapter

The story takes on a new dimension when Orgarôme becomes Elixens France, a name inspired by the words “elixir” and “senses”. At the same time, the Group’s international entities also adopt the Elixens name (Elixens America and Elixens UK).

This change reflects a deeper transformation: the company is no longer defined solely by its historical roots in aromatic raw materials. It is gradually building dedicated plant-based supply chains, producing aromatic raw materials, essential oils, natural ingredients and agricultural products. This transformation will become firmly rooted in the Drôme region, following the acquisition of Sanoflore’s raw materials business.

Drôme: a region at the heart of our history

With the development of its activities around Crest and then Eurre, Elixens France strengthened its presence in a region where aromatic and medicinal plants hold a special place.

Through the work carried out by Elixens France to adapt new plants and develop local supply chains, proximity to growers and local communities gradually became a defining feature of the company.

In 2020, Elixens France chose to bring its industrial and technical activities together in Eurre, at the Ecosite. More than one million euros were invested to adapt and modernize the existing facilities and the Eygluy-Escoulin Distillery. This investment reflects a philosophy that remains unchanged: to transform and evolve without losing what makes the company unique.

Haute-Loire: plants, expertise… and the people behind it all

Behind every essential oil, every hydrosol, every extract and every raw material, there is a plant. But there is also a grower, expertise, a region, years of experience, and teams who know their craft inside out.

Over the past 25 years, Elixens France has built strong relationships with the sectors dedicated to perfume, aromatic and medicinal plants, while supporting the development of local supply chains and embracing a fair-trade organic approach through its membership in Sica Bio Plantes and Biopartenaire.

25 years… and still driven to go further

25 years means a lot of plants, a lot of projects, a lot of kilometres travelled… and, above all, a lot of human stories. Elixens France continues to evolve. And the past few years have been particularly rich in new developments: a commitment to environmental responsibility, annual carbon footprint assessments, the acquisition of Herbissima in 2025, the takeover of Helpac’s B2B business in March 2026, and an expanded range of organic and fair-trade aromatic solutions, opening up new perspectives.

Celebrating 25 years is certainly an opportunity to look back at the journey we have taken. But it is also a chance to thank all those who have helped build this story: our employees, growers, partners, customers and everyone who, over the years, has supported Elixens France through its many transformations.

 

Because although names have changed, and sites and activities have evolved, one thing remains unchanged: looking towards tomorrow with the same curiosity that has driven us all from the very beginning…
